50 Years and Counting

50 whole years! How amazing. Recently, the Rolling Stones celebrated their 50th year anniversary.

Thanks for 50 years of greatness.

Also, they had a special on HBO. I suggest you watch it. It's very interesting.
Oh, and it's called Crossfire Hurricane.

Space Truckin' with Deep Purple

If there's one album I'd have to choose with the best story behind it, I'd have to choose Machine Head by Deep Purple. This album is best known for it's song "Smoke on the Water" which is actually a true story about how this album was made. The album was recorded in Montreux after the casino (the one they wrote the song about) was burned to the ground by an audience member who fired a flare during a Frank Zappa concert. Deep Purple had to relocate to a different place to record their album.

I think every band needs a guy with a mustache in it. Even if he doesn't play anything.
I'm probably going to write a blog post about that in the future. Take note.

Machine Head is an awesome album. It's also got a really neat background to it. (Look it up if you want to learn more about that.) Not only does the album look cool and have a cool back story, it also has a bunch of amazing songs on it.

Just saying, but the album has pictures of the burning casino on it. It's pretty cool.

For example, one really awesome song (which I'd have to say is my favorite) on the album would have to be "Space Truckin'". (Hence the title.) 

You should go buy the album. NOW.

Rock N' Roll High School!!

Here's some Ramones for all of you interweb peoples out there because The Ramones are pretty awesome.

KISS Live in Concert! Motley Crue Live in Concert!

Recently I went to a Motley Crue KISS concert. It was awesome! No. More than awesome!

First, there was Motley Crue. They were awesome. The guitars sounded awesome. In fact, one of the guys had a flamethrower guitar which was really really cool. I really want one too. Anyway, the drummer was also super awesome; especially during the solo. The drummer was in a small circle for the whole time and during the solo the drummer started to go upside down in the circle. He was playing upside-down during his drum solo. Awesome.
Well, I could go on and on about how awesome Motley Crue was, but then I won't have room for KISS! You get my point anyway.

Ah yeah! Fireworks!

Then, KISS came on. They were awesome as well. Their songs were awesome too. In the middle of the show, Paul Stanley had, wait for it, a fireworks bazooka! Then he zip-lined to the middle of the crowd and sang a song from there. It was really awesome. The guitar solos were amazing too. They sang some new songs which were also really cool sounding.

There was also Gene Simmons being Gene Simmons.

All in all, it was really amazing. I don't think I can stress that enough.

I know I haven't posted anything in a while, but this is why.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Recently, I was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. It's a great place to visit and I highly recommend it to people who like all kinds of rock music. I also brought my camera to take a ton of pictures to show, but they don't allow cameras in the exhibit areas. Darn. I do have some pictures though.

This is the entrance. Their special temporary exhibit that week was the Grateful Dead. It was really cool. I didn't take this picture.

This is the sign outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I also did not take this picture. I did take a picture of the sign myself though. It just didn't come out as well as this one did.

They had giant guitars outside too.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a great place to visit. I got to see stuff about Elvis, Bruce Springsteen, and even ZZ Top's car! They also had an exhibit about the history of rock and roll going back into decades like the 40's and 50's. I gotta tell you, they cover everything. It was a ton of fun!
